Indian Runner ducks, black.
We've been breeding real gems since 2019. The black variety is rarely seen at poultry shows. Indian Runner ducks are very popular as true snail hunters. Thanks to multiple European champion Ines Sch. from Erlangen, we get a lot of enjoyment from these lively ducks. Top quality is guaranteed, with decent egg size and good laying performance. They're real fun and highly intelligent to boot.
Dear duck lovers,
Did you know that black runner ducks are not only rare to see, but also a real insider tip for all garden owners?
If you want to rid your garden of slugs and snails, then Indian Runner ducks are the perfect solution. They are easy to raise, only need simple housing, and don't require much space. Furthermore, they don't fly, which means you don't have to constantly catch them.
But that's not all! The egg-laying capacity of Indian Runner ducks from spring to late summer is remarkable, and the egg size, at over 70g, is enormous. This means that you'll not only get rid of slugs, but also be rewarded with fresh eggs.
So, if you want a beautiful garden and to enjoy fresh eggs at the same time, then you should definitely consider Indian Runner ducks. We highly recommend them and are absolutely thrilled with our black Indian Runner ducks. They not only bring joy to the garden, but also sustainability and a love for animals.
So what are you waiting for? Get your own black Indian Runner ducks for a slug-free and green garden! We highly recommend them! You can find more information about our noble lineage from the European Champion, where we originated our breeding line, on our website. Indian Runner ducks are very curious and lively pets. They also love to eat snails – including the less popular slugs – as well as worms, insects, and beetles. This isn't the only reason they are welcome in gardens; unlike some poultry, they don't scratch the ground. These animals are generally undemanding and take care of themselves.
Indian Runner ducks are very social animals that don't like being alone. If you want to keep them, you need at least two that can live together. Ideally, keep one drake with either one or three females. More than one male drake is also possible; they get along well. These animals also appreciate plenty of space – at least 100 square meters per pair – as they are called Indian Runner ducks for a reason. They can therefore be kept in a small backyard garden.
Proper posture & care
In addition to outdoor access, Indian Runner ducks need a secure, simple shelter or coop for the night, where they are protected from predators such as martens or foxes. Furthermore, the animals always need access to water during the day, as they have to drink a lot to dissolve the snail slime they eat. Therefore, Indian Runner ducks love a mini-pond or baby bathtub outdoors, also for regular bathing and diving.
Even though Indian Runner ducks are relatively good at fending for themselves, supplemental feeding is recommended to ensure they receive all the essential nutrients and don't eat the vegetables in your garden. This is especially important in winter. Suitable supplemental feeds include greens such as iceberg lettuce, various vegetables, nettles, and grain mixes. We highly recommend our special Marans feed – they love it! Check it out here:www.marans-shop.de
With good care, they have a life expectancy of 12 to 13 years. Some animals even live up to 20 years.
