You've heard of chicken breeds, but have you ever heard of Sandjak Crower chickens? They're still very rare in Europe.
This special breed originates from the Sandžak region of Serbia, whose history is estimated at 500 years ago and which is known for its unique characteristics. Sandžak Crowing Chickens are very robust and resistant to disease, making them an ideal choice for free-range farming.
They are also very active, which makes them great hunters of insects and other pests.
But what makes Sandjak Crower chickens so special is their unique crowing call. So if you're looking for a special chicken breed that's robust, active, and has a unique call, then Sandjak Crower chickens are definitely the stars among chicken breeds!
For example, they have a pronounced territorial behavior, which makes them excellent guard chickens, also against birds of prey, foxes and the like.
Furthermore, they are extremely robust and can also be kept in colder regions.
But that's not all – Sandschak Crower chickens also boast an impressive egg-laying capacity of up to 200 eggs in their first year. And last but not least, they are visually striking, with their eye-catching plumage in a wide variety of colors and their proud bearing. The roosters can reach 5 kg, while the hens weigh around 3 kg, making them quite substantial!
It's no wonder, then, that more and more poultry farmers are turning to these crested Sandjak chickens. Starting in March 2023, we received, among other things, original imported hatching eggs from the Sandjak breed, bringing the "original" to the Havelland region.
